Idaho Bear OutfittersBear Hunt BookedOnce your hunt is booked, start planning right away. Even if your hunt is a year away. Make a list of everything you think you need for the hunt and trip there.
If your outfitter gives you list, use that as a starting point. If you are planning on driving, always take a little extra of things you think you need. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Guide
Plan on taking enough money. That should include hunt money, tipping of your guide, and expenses for your trip to and from your hunt.
It's also a good idea to have money saved at home for a deposit, if you plan to have your bear mounted. If your trip is more than one day, make hotel reservations in advance.
Do not wait to try and find a hotel the night you need one. Be prepared for warm and cold weather.
Take a tree umbrella, not just rain clothing. You don't want to sit for hours with rain pouring down on you and your equipment. And this could happen.
Therma CellBug protection should be on your list as well. Therma Cell is probably the best thing going at this time.
Naturally a flash light is always a must, just to have for your own peace of mind when it gets dark. (But I highly do not recommend walking around without your guide, day or night.)
Then plan to check over your gear before and after you reach your outfitters camp.
